5 Star Rated Limerick Roofers

Our Roofing Services in Limerick

From urgent repairs to full roof replacements, Doherty Roofing provides the complete range of domestic roofing services to homeowners across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary. Whatever your roof needs, Jim and the team have it covered.

Gutter Repairs

Blocked, cracked or sagging gutters allow water to run unchecked down your walls and into your foundations. We repair and realign guttering systems of all types — clearing blockages, resealing joints and replacing damaged sections to ensure rainwater is directed safely away from your home.

Chimney Repairs

A deteriorating chimney stack allows water into your home and causes serious structural damage over time. We carry out all chimney repair work including repointing, flashing repairs, lead replacement and full stack rebuilds to restore complete weatherproofing and protect your property.

Skylight Repairs

A leaking or failing skylight can cause significant water damage to ceilings, insulation and internal walls if left unaddressed. We carry out lasting skylight repairs on all Velux and Fakro roof windows — fixing failed seals, damaged frames, cracked glazing and failed flashing to a high standard.

Roof Replacements

When a roof has reached the end of its serviceable life, a full replacement is the most cost-effective long-term solution. We manage the entire process from initial inspection to completion — stripping, structural assessment, new underlay and covering — using quality materials suited to the Irish climate.

Flat Roof Repairs

Flat roofs are vulnerable to ponding water, membrane deterioration and joint failure — particularly in Ireland's wet climate. We diagnose and repair all flat roof issues quickly and effectively, using high-performance felt, EPDM and GRP materials to restore full weatherproofing and extend the life of your roof.

Slate Roof Repairs

Slate is one of the most durable roofing materials available but individual slates can crack, slip or become dislodged over time. We source matching natural and fibre cement slates to carry out seamless repairs that blend with your existing roof and restore its full integrity against the elements.

Urgent Roof Repairs

When a storm causes sudden damage or a leak develops without warning, every hour of delay increases the risk to your home. Doherty Roofing prioritises urgent calls from homeowners across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary — responding as quickly as possible to make your roof safe and weatherproof.

New Fascia & Soffits

Failing fascia and soffit boards cannot support your guttering properly and allow moisture to penetrate your roof structure. We supply and install quality uPVC fascia and soffit systems that are durable, low maintenance and built to withstand the year-round demands of the Irish weather.

Metal Roofs

Metal roofing offers exceptional durability, longevity and weather resistance for both new builds and replacement roofs. We install and repair standing seam steel, zinc and corrugated metal roofing systems for domestic and commercial properties — a modern, low-maintenance solution that performs reliably for decades.

Why Homeowners Across Limerick Choose Doherty Roofing

You Deal With Jim The Owner Directly

Based in Ballykeeffe, Limerick

Member of The National Guild of Craftsmen

Doherty Roofing is a verified member of the National Guild of Master Craftsmen — Ireland's independent standard for quality tradespeople. Guild membership requires ongoing vetting, giving you confidence that you are hiring a contractor who has been independently assessed.

Frequently Asked Roofing Questions

How do I know if my roof needs repaired or replaced?
As a general rule, if fewer than 20% of your slates or tiles are damaged and the underlying structure is still sound, a targeted repair is the right call. If the roof is over 30 to 40 years old, problems are recurring despite previous repairs, or the underlay has failed, a full replacement is likely the more cost-effective long-term decision. Jim will give you an honest recommendation based on what he actually finds — not on what generates the most revenue.

How much does a roof repair cost in Limerick?
Minor repairs — replacing slates, repointing ridge tiles, resealing gutter joints — start from a few hundred euro. More involved work such as chimney flashing replacement or flat roof repairs will cost more. A full roof replacement on a standard three-bedroom semi-detached in Limerick typically falls in the range of €6,000 to €12,000. We provide free written quotes on all work so you will always know the full cost before anything begins.

Are you insured?
Yes. Doherty Roofing is fully insured with public liability cover across Limerick, Clare and Tipperary. Our team are Safe Pass certified and we are happy to provide confirmation of our insurance details before any work begins.

How quickly can you respond to an urgent repair?
For Limerick city and the immediate suburbs we can typically get to you the same day or the following morning. For county Limerick, Clare and Tipperary we will always give you an honest estimated arrival time when you call rather than making promises we cannot keep.

Will my home insurance cover roof repairs?
Storm damage and sudden accidental damage are covered under most standard home insurance policies in Ireland. Document all damage with photographs before any repair work begins and contact your insurer promptly. Doherty Roofing provides written damage assessments and repair quotes to support insurance claims. Gradual wear and tear is not covered — only sudden unexpected damage qualifies.

Roofing in Limerick — Local Knowledge Matters

Limerick's housing stock is more varied than most people realise — and understanding that variety is what separates a genuinely local roofer from one who treats every property the same.

The older terraced and semi-detached properties in Limerick city centre, the Ennis Road area and the established streets of Corbally and Caherdavin typically have natural slate roofs, original lead valleys and chimney flashings that need periodic maintenance.

The 1960s, 1970s and 1980s local authority and private estates across Moyross, Southill, Ballinacurra and the wider city have a high proportion of flat-roofed extensions now reaching or past the end of their felt lifespan. The large suburban estates of Dooradoyle, Raheen and Castletroy — built predominantly from the 1980s through the 2000s — carry concrete interlocking tile roofs that are now entering the phase where ridge repointing, underlay assessment and guttering replacement are increasingly necessary.

Out in the county, the picture is different again. Rural farmhouses across west Limerick — from Rathkeale and Askeaton to Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale — often have older natural slate roofs and exposed chimney stacks that bear the full force of the Atlantic weather that rolls in from the coast. Properties in Adare and the heritage villages of south Limerick present their own conservation-sensitive roofing requirements. And the growing commuter settlements of Annacotty, Castleconnell and the villages along the Clare and Tipperary borders present a newer generation of roofing stock.

Jim and the Doherty Roofing team work across all of these property types every week. That local knowledge informs every inspection, every repair recommendation and every material specification we make.

Ridge Tile Repair & Repointing — Garryowen, Limerick

This job came in from a homeowner in Garryowen, Limerick — an older terraced property with a concrete tile roof that had been showing signs of wear for some time. The ridge tiles along the apex of the roof had begun to lift and separate, with the mortar bedding crumbling away in several sections. Moss growth across the tile surface had accelerated the deterioration, and a number of tiles on the front slope had cracked and displaced, leaving the roof exposed.

Jim and the team arrived, stripped back the affected tiles and inspected the underlying structure before carrying out a full ridge repointing — removing all failed mortar, cleaning the tile surfaces and rebedding the ridge tiles with fresh weather-resistant mortar along the full length of the roof. Cracked and displaced tiles were replaced with matching units and the surrounding area was checked thoroughly for any further vulnerabilities.

The result is a clean, secure ridge line that will handle whatever the Limerick weather throws at it — and a homeowner who no longer has to worry every time a storm rolls in off the Shannon.
